The Secret Parisian Gallery, Mayfair

Dreaming of an autumnal escape to Paris? Can't stop thinking about strolling around the Jardin des Tulieries, post-espresso and pre-Sezane shop? Ain't we all. But if, like me, your hometown ties are reigning you in and a Eurostar ticket is out of reach, there's a little pocket of Paris in Mayfair that can substitute for the meantime.

MAYFAIR, LONDON

Every time I find myself wandering around London, it astonishes me just how much there is to see, how many undiscovered gems there really are. The city offers so much in every possible way and it almost irritates me to think I will never truly see, taste or experience it all - especially with places opening and closing as quick as a blink. But when I spotted this gallery cropping up on my Instagram feed all too often, with its sharp monochrome flooring, softened by the charm of the historical interiors, it was only a matter of time until I visited.

In the heart of Mayfair that is Dover Street and situated right next door to Victoria Beckham's store (these gallery owners, they know us all too well don't they), Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac specialises in international contemporary art. You'll notice that I've left out photographing any of the art in this post, and that's because you should really visit it yourself - it's all truly mesmerising!

There are several exhibitions currently ongoing but most of them finish in the next two days so visit quick! Robert Longo's charcoal works and Ilya and Emilia Kabakov's broken chandelier are a true must-see.

And did I mention this is all totally free?

Ely House is beautiful in its quietness.

We wandered the halls almost alone, with barely a soul in sight. So for a secluded space to escape the world for a while, this gallery is unrivalled.
